Shelter Renovations

Over the past month or so we have been very busy renovating, cleaning and making repairs in the shelter.  Everything was scrubbed from top to bottom and repainted, repaired or replaced.

Many of the children had been placed with family members, foster parents or different shelters at the end of 2009.  With less children we were able to do a lot of work that couldn't be done with a shelter full of children.

The new toddler toilets (we're having some problems with the plumbing leaking)

We have also been helping to complete a dorm that will house up to 8 people.  The dorm will be available to short term volunteers who come to help out at the shelter.

It's been a lot of hard work and long hours, but it's nice to see everything complete!

Because of all of the work that needed to be done in the shelter, we haven't been accepting new children.  But now that everything is finished we have started taking babies again.  On Friday we received a precious 2 week old baby boy.  He will be staying at the shelter until an adoptive family is found for him.
